About Operatie Julianaplein

The Julianaplein in Groningen was completely renovated. The traffic lights were removed, and each destination direction got its own separate, free-flowing connection, which significantly reduced the chance of traffic jams. To make this happen, a temporary intersection was first constructed in 2022 during a 13-week closure, known as "Operation Julianaplein."

About Operatie Julianaplein

MAPtm was asked to perform the following tasks from our traffic control center (VCMAP) during this operation:

  • chevronsIncident management for the underlying road network (OWN) in Groningen;
  • chevronsMonitoring, signaling, and reporting for the OWN in Groningen ;
  • chevronsProviding personal travel advice through the Ask&GO Groningen service, which helped 5,500 travelers on their way. With a rewarding 4.7 of 5 from our customers.

The VCMAP was available for this purpose for 78 days between 7 AM and 7 PM. In this way, we contributed to reducing road disruptions during the temporary diversion.
